WHAT WE DO
Angels for Higher helps facilitate the hiring of individuals with Down syndrome to work as Greeters in fully inclusive environments at athletic venues, university campuses and performing arts centers.
three-step Strategic alliance development program
Step 1: Present Angels for Higher’s THREE-STEP STRATEGIC ALLIANCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAm to Sports Stadiums and university Campuses
On-site presentations to venue personnel explaining how the tremendous long-term public relations (branding), social (diversity/inclusion) and financial (ROI) benefits that will accrue to their venues will far outweigh any short-term challenges involved in hiring individuals with Down syndrome to work as Greeters in their stadiums, campuses or performing arts centers. Discussions would include recently enacted federal law (WIOA) mandating the integration of disabled workers into general population. Additional suggestions would include parameters to consider and guidelines to follow when seeking qualified employees.
“Nothing says there’s more to a team than just winning games and making money than hiring individuals who have Down syndrome to welcome fans into their venue.”
Step 2: recruit pre-qualified candidates from Local down syndrome associations
On-site presentations to regional Down syndrome associations to introduce their local venue's upcoming plans to hire individuals with Down syndrome to work as Greeters at their facility. There would also be a description of the realities involved in working in an often tumultuous environment, as well as the physical, emotional and practical qualifications necessary for successful employment.
“People who have Down syndrome are a population worth serving…the lack of jobs suitable to their unique gifts, challenges, and abilities is a problem worth solving.”
STEP 3: Establish strategic Alliances with Teams, Universities, and Down syndrome associations through the successful Long-term employment of greeters who have down syndrome
Coordinate interview processes of pre-qualified individuals who have Down syndrome with the venue's human resources department. Promote thoughtful interactions between venue personnel, their newly hired Greeters & their families, and local social service agencies in order to ensure successful long-term employment and mutually beneficial relationships for everyone involved in these inclusive employment opportunities at their facility.
“Diversity is being invited to a party…Inclusion is being asked to dance.”
